Biografía.

El Dr. José Martínez Carranza es Investigador Titular B en la Coordinación de Ciencias Computacionales del Instituto Nacional de Astrofísica Óptica y Electrónica (INAOE). En 2018, la Universidad de Bristol en el Reino Unido le confirió el estatus de “Honorary Senior Research Fellow”. Es miembro del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores Nivel I. En 2015, recibió la distinción Royal Society-Newton Advanced Fellowship, otorgada por el Fondo Newton en el Reino Unido. Es fundador y líder del grupo de investigación en Sistemas Aéreos No-Tripulados y su equipo QuetzalC++ ha participado en competencias internacionales de alto prestigio donde ha obtenido diversos premios, destacando el 1er Lugar en la IROS 2017 Autonomous Drone Racing competition y recientemente, el 1er Lugar Regional (Latinoamérica) de la OpenCV AI Competition 2021. En 2021 fue General Chair de la International Micro Air Vehicle conference (IMAV) organizada por primera vez en Latinoamérica. Desde 2022, se unió al consejo editorial de la revista científica Unmanned Systems. También ha participado como Editor Asociado en la conferencia internacional IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS) 2023-2023.
